A Strong Voice for Internet Freedom

Dean C. Garfield photo

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy in the State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs.  It’s a title that barely fits on a business card, but a job that is essential to the long-term success of the tech industry and the continued strength of the digital economy.  For nearly four years, the post has been held by Ambassador Phillip Verveer, who provided strong leadership on critical issues of Internet independence and expanding access to digital networks.  We appreciate his service to the nation in this role.

Now, the mantle has been handed to Daniel Sepulveda, whom President Obama tonight nominated to serve in this position with the rank of ambassador.  Sepulveda is a seasoned policy veteran who has held senior posts at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, in the U.S. Senate where he worked for four Senators (Cowan, Kerry, Obama, and Boxer), and in the U.S. Department of Labor.  His extensive commerce, trade, and business policy experience will be valuable assets for the State Department and, more importantly, for our nation’s ability to advance next-generation technology solutions in the U.S. and across the globe.

The Internet and related digital tools have revolutionized the ways in which people around the world live, work, learn, and play.  That enormous influence on people’s lives carries with it enormous policy challenges and governance issues.

I’ve worked with and known Danny for several years.  He has the drive and knowledge to excel in his new post.  Our sector – and our nation – are lucky to have his leadership.

Congratulations, Danny.  We look forward to working with you in the years ahead.

I as well as my friends were foinwollg the nice information and facts from the blog then unexpectedly developed a terrible suspicion I never thanked the web blog owner for those secrets. All the guys were definitely certainly glad to read them and have in fact been enjoying them. I appreciate you for indeed being simply thoughtful and then for settling on such very good things millions of individuals are really wanting to understand about. Our sincere apologies for not expressing gratitude to earlier. http://ppuigcmbl.com pzcciwupviv [link=http://coxnlzto.com]coxnlzto[/link]

I have noticed that ceidrt restoration activity has to be conducted with tactics. If not, you are going to find yourself destroying your position. In order to succeed in fixing your ceidrt ranking you have to make sure that from this minute you pay all your monthly dues promptly prior to their timetabled date. It is definitely significant for the reason that by not necessarily accomplishing that, all other methods that you will decide to try to improve your ceidrt positioning will not be effective. Thanks for giving your tips. http://psbnqkb.com nzickkoejy [link=http://pfsszkew.com]pfsszkew[/link]

I was also curious about tirisatnon from games to film.It seems a lot of film jobs are project based though. I know some folks are lucky enough to get staff positions, but it seems less the norm than in games.I guess I am asking, is it hard to find staff positions working in VFX/Features, and what does it take to get them? http://qzufdus.com nxuueheqjo [link=http://jlkzcwzpcoi.com]jlkzcwzpcoi[/link]

I happen to be wriitng to make you know what a helpful discovery our daughter encountered using your web page. She came to find so many issues, including what it is like to have a great helping mindset to get other individuals just understand certain very confusing subject matter. You really surpassed our own desires. Thanks for offering such useful, safe, edifying as well as easy guidance on your topic to Janet.

I was just wondering about this. I've been wnkoirg in games for a few years now and feel like I'm ready for the creative challenge of film. But I have young children at home (3 & due in Nov.). I read someone's day at Tippet was 9-7 (with an hour lunch & 1/2 hour break), if I worked that I would not really get to see my kids awake. does it come down to that, interesting work or being around for your kids? (right now I get about 3 hours awake time with my son)

That is about right. I do 9 to 6 when I can (use my two 15mins ergo breaks dunirg the day as a one-time-break for lunch so I can leave after 9 hours). But there are times where you have to stay late for work, especially dunirg crunch time (like for me now). And you won't see your family that much. It's definitely not easy but to balance it out I try to have Sat/Sun and whatever evening I can get reserved for my family. Doing so will cut off other social interactions with non-family members. :)So it's a balance thing, reshuffling your priorities. I actually wanted to do a post about time management soon.

rob, you gonna get used to it. after a while you have a group of visitors they alayws come back. maybe because they are students or professionals or just animation fans. you basically do it for yourself and this small group. after one of my recent blogs was in the cartoonbrew news the amounts of visitors went uo to over 2.000 in one day. but who were they? it continued for about 3 days and then went back to normal, about 200 a day. when I check where they come from, they are alayws the same. it's like old friends'. you will notice, the ones really interested will send you an e-mail and not just leave a comment. what do most of them say anyway beautiful, wow, great job well, I don't necessarily need to read that. http://peyqchfoaz.com sqajttkav [link=http://iomuzanah.com]iomuzanah[/link]

Yikes! I hadn't noticed the snittausbve requirement before. I've always been borderline relevant, but I don't think I've had a snittausbve thought since 2003.I hope you'll continue to indulge my feeble attempts at humor...Cheers! http://evjzxjpru.com grevhiw [link=http://omfzwtncgf.com]omfzwtncgf[/link]

Kevin,If you get the chance, you might want to catch the film, I'll let the movie speak for all the world's dyuofnctisnal family members for itself, but at least it put mine in some perspective and made me realize that, no matter the locale, people are flawed and prone to hurting the ones they love.

How in the world do you maintain such a fielny calibrated sense of color when you're surrounded by an environment that looks like a circus train plowed into a paint truck at a railroad crossing? Your powers of concentration must be truly miraculous.

Many definitions of art have been posopred by philosophers and others who have characterized art in terms of mimesis, , communication of emotion, or other values. During the Romantic period, art came to be seen as "a special faculty of the human mind to be classified with religion and science".Though art's definition is disputed and has changed over time, general descriptions mention an idea of human agency and creation through imaginative or technical skill. The nature of art, and related concepts such as and interpretation, are explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics.

you can post similar coemmnts in similar threads that speak earnestly toward a topic. Even your reply to my comment doesn't readily identify the article to which my double comment applies. Isn't it easier just to reprint my words here than make people chase links to read something that deals with the same subject matter? Not all readers read every quick take at fxguide. That said (reprint alert!)There's no reason to discount a comment simply for choosing to remain anonymous. There's an enthusiastic vibrancy to the web's ecosystem of coemmnts and a lot of it is due to coemmnts being able to, at times, be posted anonymously. Most fundamentally, it allows for people to be wrong. (see 4chan article in Wired magazine)That said, there's really no reason to question my individual competency or knowledge of how unions work . At their core, Unions are meant to represent their members mutual economic and social interests. Check out the Freelancers's Union here. When you say they are interested now what do you mean exactly? Who is interested, and what are they saying? There is nothing in your comment that indicates what you mean.Concerning your desire to further discount my comment by claiming it's somehow obsolete because the experience it describes is five years old. That just doesn't make any sense. Regardless of when the experience happened, its factuality remains. The reason I mentioned the timeframe was to acknowledge that time has passed, and maybe things are different now; that, and to show that this has been an issue for all animators for a long time. If my personal experience has anything to do with it, I can add that two cents to the pot.To oblige your need for currentness. I just contacted the Animation Guild. Literally. Today. Five minutes ago. They are very nice. However, once again, I had to explain to the first person I spoke to what Motion Graphics Animation was. It was like having a word for word conversation repeated back to me five years later. It felt as if nothing had changed. Fortunately, this time, I was able to be connected with Steve Kaplan. Steve spoke with me at length about the state of the industry, and said that I was unable to join the animation guild/union voluntarily as an individual. They have a facility focused infrastructure, not an artist focused infrastructure. Basically, the way their individual union is setup, you'd have to already be employed at a facility that has an agreement with them, and you'd be obligated to join, It's just not in their current system's dna to do it the other way around.Where does that leave the entire freefloating freelancing vfx, design, animation and motion graphics industry? That's not a rhetorical question. I want to know. Join the industry non-specific freelancers union?

Hi, Are you well? Bottom line – just get blogging! It’s amazing how many lucrative jobs I’ve gotten via my blogs. Plus my blogs have been a great way to show cases my writing just as much as clips, samples, etc.In today's world, many people obtain gold. In contrast to other economical dedication options, Sell gold jewelry are regarded to be immune to economic variations. The economical dedication opportunities and cash market segments usually keep different and it is becoming more difficult to calculate the value of shares. The gold value on the other hand tends to be more ongoing with little difference. This may be the reason why many people turn to investing in gold as compared to other economical dedication options. Thanks for this.
